We are seeking a Part Time Intervenor to join our team at Sensity Deafblind and Sensory Support Network of Canada. As an Intervenor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are deafblind in their daily lives.
About the Role:The successful candidate will provide support and assistance to individuals who are deafblind, enabling them to live independently and participate fully in their communities. This will involve using communication techniques to relay information, supporting individuals in their home and community environments, and empowering them to participate and be successful in all aspects of daily living.
Key Responsibilities:- Supporting individuals who are deafblind in their daily lives, including personal care, meal preparation, and house cleaning.
- Using communication techniques to relay information and support individuals in their communication needs.
- Empowering individuals to participate and be successful in all aspects of daily living, including personal hygiene, volunteerism, and community activities.
- Providing personal care as required, including lifts and transfers, toileting, and medication administration.
- Assisting with developing and supporting individual goals and objectives.
- Ensuring documentation and records are complete and up-to-date.
- Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program or a related human services field.
- Experience supporting persons with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
- Experience supporting persons with mental health conditions.
- Communication in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).
- A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean current driver's abstract.
- A competitive wage starting at $23.03/hour.
