Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Administrator I Servers to join our team at Queensway Carleton Hospital. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, installing, administering, and optimizing our company servers and related components to achieve high performance of our various business applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement server infrastructure to support business applications
- Develop strategies for client/server implementations and architect the required infrastructure
- Lead and coordinate key process improvements related to the client/server environment
- Collaborate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers
- Recommend and implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure server security
- Conduct research on server hardware, software, and protocols to support procurement and development efforts
- Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports
- Manage enterprise directory services and supporting server infrastructure
- Develop and maintain training materials and server documentation
Requirements
- University degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
- Microsoft Certification or in progress
- VMware Certification or in progress
- At least 5 years' equivalent work experience in a senior technical analytical position responsible for managing server environments
- Advanced knowledge of Windows 2016/2019/2022, Exchange, SQL, IIS, VMware, SAN storage, VMware Horizon
- Exceptional abilities at load balancing, clustering, and caching procedures and processes
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and associated network equipment
- Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools
- Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and operating system configuration
- Working technical knowledge of scripting code and scripting tools
- General knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN or NAS, as well as Active Directory/Global Catalogue
- Business process and reengineering experience, as well as an understanding of the relationship between processes and policies
- Proven knowledge of systems development life cycle methodologies
- Good project management skills
- Good written and oral communication skills; good interpersonal skills
- Ability to conduct research into server issues and products as required
- Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong customer service orientation
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
