CGMH is an 84-bed facility located in Collingwood, Ontario, serving over 74,000 residents and 3.5 million visitors annually from surrounding areas. The hospital provides acute care services, including emergency treatment, diagnostic procedures such as laboratory tests, imaging, and cardio-respiratory therapy, along with two inpatient units dedicated to medicine and surgery. Additionally, CGMH offers specialized care in obstetrics, orthopaedics, intensive care, and surgical services, as well as outpatient services including dialysis and various clinics focused on mental health and rehabilitation. The Role:

As a vital member of the healthcare team, you will engage in the assessment, treatment, and provision of care and health promotion for all patients. This includes supportive, therapeutic, palliative, and rehabilitative care while adhering to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario. You will be responsible for the care and transfer of patients across various categories, including medical, surgical, chronic, pediatric, obstetric, rehabilitative, and palliative cases.

Qualifications:

  • Current RPN Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Proficiency in Delegated Control Acts and additional nursing skills relevant to the work area
  • Understanding of cardiac care, emergency care, maternal childcare, geriatric care, medical-surgical, and palliative care principles
  • Strong conflict resolution abilities when interacting with staff, supervisors, physicians, patients, and families
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in recognizing situations that may require immediate attention
  • Capacity to provide educational opportunities for clients, families, and other healthcare providers
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and Infection Control Practices, as well as adherence to College of Nurses Standards of Practice
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Compliance with the duties of workers as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Proficiency in English communication (written and verbal); additional language skills are an asset
  • Basic computer skills
  • Dedication to professional growth and development
  • Ability to perform essential duties of the position, including physical tasks such as moving/transferring patients
  • Proven excellent attendance and performance record
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently while effectively communicating with other healthcare team members

Responsibilities:

  • Administers patient care within the defined scope of practice based on the established care plan.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and coordinates care in collaboration with the patient, utilizing clinical judgment.
  • Monitors patient responses and outcomes.
  • Adjusts the care plan to reflect the evolving needs of the patient.
  • Facilitates communication among care providers to meet the healthcare needs of assigned patients effectively.
  • Utilizes physical resources to deliver efficient and effective care.
