Position Overview: We are seeking a Lead Contracts Specialist to enhance the Supply, Trading & Optimization division's diverse portfolio of commodity supply and trading, which encompasses natural gas, crude oil, financial instruments, power, products, and environmental commodities. In this role, you will oversee contract negotiations, offer confirmation support, and work closely with internal teams to ensure that the organization's contractual agreements comply with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
Key Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in contract management within the energy sector, particularly with a focus on commodities.
- A degree in business, economics, law, supply chain management, or a related discipline.
- Comprehensive understanding of contracting strategies, contract formation, including terms and conditions, compensation, and contract oversight.
- Proficient in computer applications (advanced MS Excel); familiarity with SharePoint and Power BI is advantageous.
- Prior experience with SAP, TriplePoint CXL, or other Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) systems.
- Capability to meet stringent deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a talent for fostering positive relationships across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Review, draft, and negotiate various commodity master agreements, which may include GasEDI/NAESBs, ISDAs, crude oil, products, and LPG purchase and sale agreements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Legal Affairs, Credit, Compliance, Tax, and Front Office in the review and drafting of both standard and non-standard agreements.
- Initiate and lead the continuous enhancement of industry precedent agreements and Suncor's contract templates.
- Develop and refine contract management policies and procedures to optimize contracting processes and mitigate potential risks.
- Coordinate the establishment of new counterparties with various stakeholders, including Credit and Compliance.
- Maintain contracts within Suncor's record-keeping system, adhering to corporate document retention policies.
