About the Role:

The Environmental Services Manager is a key member of our team at Southbridge Care Homes, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout our long-term care homes and retirement communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilities Management: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, including routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Housekeeping and Laundry: Manage the housekeeping and laundry departments to provide high-quality services to our residents and staff.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs to equipment and systems, and refer specialized work to outside contractors as needed.
  • Staff Supervision: Support the Executive Director in hiring, training, and performance management of departmental staff.
  • Quality and Safety: Ensure the quality and quantity of services and products provided by departmental staff, and maintain records and statistics in accordance with home policies and legislation.

Requirements:

  • Education: Two-year post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Services/Building Services Management or related field.
  • Experience: Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity, preferably in a long-term care setting.
  • Skills: Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems; health and safety certification; and ability to communicate effectively in English and French.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to meet physical and safety requirements of the job, including standing for long periods, bending, and lifting.
