The CNC Machining Specialist collaborates closely with the Production Coordination and Scheduling teams, as well as other relevant personnel from the manufacturing facility, to ensure the smooth and effective production of components while delivering exceptional customer service and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review Production Requirements: Obtain the job traveler from the production area and examine the drawings, materials, and processes involved.
  • Fixture and Tooling Selection: Identify the necessary fixtures and tooling, and select the appropriate machine for the task, considering machine availability and project timelines.
  • Program Evaluation: Assess the program list to determine if the program is established or new; ensure accurate data entry to maintain programming quality and product integrity.
  • New Part Setup: For new components, develop fixtures as needed, create setup sheets, and outline the sequence of operations while updating the relevant software systems.
  • Serial Number Management: Establish and maintain a serial number system for both fixtures and tooling, ensuring proper cataloging and tracking.
  • Job Package Management: Ensure the completeness and accuracy of job packages for production use; update setup sheets post-production.
  • Program Maintenance: Save the latest version of the program on the server and ensure it is accessible for future use.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to machinists and operators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in machining practices.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations, participate in safety meetings, and ensure all work is conducted safely.
  • Data Entry: Accurately input job data into the software system, utilizing the job traveler for reference.
  • Quality Assurance: Follow quality procedures and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Effective Communication: Engage with colleagues, management, customers, and suppliers in a clear and professional manner.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Perform additional tasks as required by the position.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Certified Machinist with a minimum of five years of experience.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Experience with Gibbs Cam or Master Cam software.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and ability to work within tight tolerances.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a strong team-oriented mindset.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and effective time management skills.
  • Experience with Solidworks and Fusion 360 is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently on complex programming and setups.
  • Experience with 5-axis programming using GibbsCAM software.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; additional education or trade school preferred.

Language Skills: Proficient in English, both verbal and written.

Certificates: Journeyperson in Machining or recognized trade certification.

Work Environment: Primarily indoor industrial setting with moderate noise levels; overtime may be required.

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, squat, and kneel as needed.
