At Peoples Trust, we provide a flexible hybrid work model. In this role, you will alternate between working in the office and remotely. Your typical working hours will be from Monday to Friday, with flexibility around your start and end times.

We are seeking candidates for this role from various locations, and those applying from outside the specified areas may need to consider relocation.

Candidate Profile:

You are an experienced law clerk eager to expand your expertise within a financial services context. You possess proficiency in using Diligent or similar platforms and have a solid understanding of corporate record-keeping. You are proactive, inquisitive, and thrive in a collaborative environment. Your professionalism and maturity enable you to engage effectively with team members.

As a leader at Peoples Trust, you focus on leveraging strengths, fostering engagement, and driving performance. You understand the dynamics of your team and how their contributions align with the organization's success.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a law clerk.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate filings in Canada and specific provinces.
  • Familiarity with annual corporate filing processes across jurisdictions.
  • Experience with ALF systems.
  • Proven ability to maintain corporate minute books.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the capacity to manage deadlines effectively.
  • A positive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently while being part of a cohesive team.
  • Strong analytical skills with a curiosity to understand underlying principles.

Daily Responsibilities:

You will play a vital role in coordinating and managing essential aspects of Board and committee meetings, including:

  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of meeting agendas.
  • Maintaining a reliable tracking system for meeting topics and items.
  • Assisting in the collection, review, and quality assurance of documentation for Board meetings.
  • Attending all Board meetings to accurately record minutes and follow up on action items.
  • Supporting the maintenance of communication with Board members through the electronic Board Portal.
  • Coordinating various Board activities and events, including orientation programs.

You will ensure effective corporate governance by:

  • Managing and developing direct reports through ongoing performance feedback.
  • Advising the Corporate Secretary on governance best practices.
  • Contributing to the development of governance documents and corporate policies.
  • Researching past decisions and preparing briefing materials for Board review.
  • Keeping records of committee compositions and planning for appointments.
  • Tracking Board expenses and assisting in budget development.
  • Performing additional functions or projects as assigned.

Compensation:

Peoples Trust offers a competitive salary along with a discretionary profit-sharing opportunity. The salary for this position will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
