Position Overview
We are in search of a dedicated Lead Scientist to become a vital member of the Formulation and Pharmaceutical Development division within our Process Development team. In this pivotal role, the Principal Scientist will spearhead the establishment of innovative platforms and workflows for formulation and drug product development, as well as conducting clinical in-use studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic, technical, and tactical leadership for the Formulation Development team.
- Design and implement antibody formulation and drug product development strategies, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and business goals.
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects, acting as a subject matter expert and guiding resource allocation.
- Represent the formulation function on both internal and external CMC teams, contributing to the overall product control strategy.
- Lead the analysis of analytical results to elucidate antibody degradation pathways and develop strategies to enhance product stability.
- Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of data generated by both internal and external laboratories.
- Author and review technical documentation and regulatory submissions.
- Streamline processes associated with various formulation technologies to reduce development timelines and enhance formulation quality.
- Foster collaborations with research, clinical, and quality teams to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Mentor and train junior staff, providing guidance and support for their professional growth.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. with 10+ years of relevant experience, or M.Sc./B.Sc. with 15+ years of experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, particularly in mentoring and aligning team objectives.
- Extensive knowledge of formulation and stability development for monoclonal antibodies or similar biotherapeutics.
- Expertise in biophysical and biochemical characterization of proteins.
- Experience in authoring drug product sections for regulatory filings and familiarity with CMC regulations for biologics.
- Familiarity with late-phase formulation development and experience with BLAs is advantageous.
- Proficiency in lab automation is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.
- Experience with electronic lab notebooks and data capture methods.

AbCellera provides a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of CAD $110,000 - $173,000, equity options, and an annual performance-based bonus.
