Position OverviewBy joining Allergan, you will collaborate with a team of exceptional professionals committed to positively impacting patients' lives. We are currently seeking a National Medical Science Liaison (MSL) specializing in biomarkers to join our Medical Affairs Oncology division. In this dynamic role, you will cultivate and strengthen relationships while enhancing our scientific reputation with both established and emerging external experts (EEs) in the field of Oncology and clinical biomarkers. This national role can be based in various locations and will report to the Medical Manager, Solid Tumours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and sustain essential scientific knowledge for the credible communication of biomarker information to external experts and healthcare professionals.
- Provide scientific assistance and maintain connections with external biomarker specialists and leading academic institutions.
- Deliver credible scientific presentations on biomarker-related subjects to healthcare professionals, both individually and in group settings.
- Participate in scientific meetings and conferences, creating summaries of significant data presented.
- Gather and integrate diagnostic testing data from key centers and laboratories, sharing insights with internal stakeholders to support the development of strategic biomarker and medical initiatives.
- Plan, organize, and execute local, provincial, and national field activities with a scientific focus on biomarkers.
- Collaborate effectively with diagnostic test manufacturers to facilitate relevant biomarker training for external stakeholders.
- Solicit feedback from external experts regarding local testing practices and emerging diagnostic technologies.
- Ensure adherence to Allergan Policies and Standards.
Required Education/Experience:
- A Doctorate, PharmD, or MD is preferred. An MSc degree in a related scientific discipline along with demonstrated medical affairs experience will also be considered.
- A minimum of two years of experience in diagnostic fields or as an MSL is preferred.
- A background in Oncology/solid tumors and biomarkers is advantageous.
- A solid understanding of the Canadian biomarker testing landscape is essential.
- Familiarity with scientific methods applicable to clinical research, biomarker testing implementation/validation, and current legislative/regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to quickly assimilate new subject areas and environments.
- A strong interest in developing and maintaining expert knowledge in the assigned therapeutic area/product and medical research in general.
Essential Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Comfortable with technology and adept at using various tools and systems for daily tasks.
- Willingness to travel approximately 60% of the time.
- A valid driver's license and passport are required.
Key In-Field Team (IFT) Competencies:
- Ability to understand the unmet needs of key stakeholders, make impactful decisions, and integrate that information into the IFT's engagement strategy.
- Capability to coordinate scientific and medical engagement efforts across stakeholders within a single account to develop interaction plans aligned with the Scientific Interaction Plan (SIP) to achieve medical objectives.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to incorporate the perspectives of other in-field team members to optimize business goals.
