Responsibilities

  • Energy Efficiency Strategies: Identify, evaluate, and prioritize energy-saving initiatives encompassing both capital investments and operational adjustments. Develop comprehensive proposals and applications for funding opportunities.
  • Financial Management: Contribute to the annual capital expenditure budget for all energy conservation projects. Participate in quarterly forecasting exercises to ensure accurate budget allocation.
  • Energy Monitoring & Analysis: Establish and maintain a robust energy tracking and monitoring system for each facility/process, recording monthly consumption and electrical load inventory.
  • Initial Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments and walkthrough audits to pinpoint energy-saving opportunities and recommend detailed evaluations for specific systems.
  • Operational Optimization: Collaborate with Technical Services to refine control systems, operating schedules, and maintenance practices to enhance energy efficiency.
  • Project Execution: Oversee the planning, budgeting, and implementation of energy-saving projects, ensuring timely design, installation, and verification.
  • Performance Measurement: Implement measurement and verification strategies for reporting requirements and compliance obligations.
  • Sustainability Culture: Foster a culture of sustainability within The Engineering Institute of Canada, encouraging employees to identify and report energy conservation opportunities and efficiencies.
  • Project Support: Coordinate and assist with site inspections by relevant authorities, collecting data on energy use changes.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Assist in preparing quarterly reports and fulfilling reporting obligations for energy management programs. Lead the Canada Infrastructure Bank requirement for decarbonization certification and verification.

Qualifications

  • Professional designation as a Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist (CET), a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or a licensed professional engineer (P.Eng.) is essential.
  • Extensive experience in industrial and multi-residential energy use, energy management, and project management.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in office computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Yardi, Brightly, Word, Vision, and PowerPoint.
