Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and skilled Farm Operations Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the farm, including maintaining farm machinery, equipment, and buildings. They will also be responsible for managing the overall operation of the farm, purchasing necessary supplies, and establishing marketing programs.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain farm machinery, equipment, and buildings: Ensure that all farm equipment is in good working condition and perform regular maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns.
- Manage overall operation of farm: Oversee the daily activities of the farm, including crop management, livestock care, and staff supervision.
- Purchase machinery, livestock, seed, feed, and other supplies: Source and purchase necessary supplies and equipment to support farm operations.
- Establish marketing programs: Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote farm products and services.
- Maintain financial and production records: Accurately record and report on farm financial and production data.
- Perform general farm duties: Assist with various farm tasks, including planting, harvesting, and animal care.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers: Manage the hiring and supervision of farm staff and volunteers.
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in farm management or a related field.
- Work site environment: Dusty, hot, noisy, outdoors.
- Work setting: Rural area.
- Tasks: Maintain farm machinery, equipment, and buildings; manage overall operation of farm; purchase machinery, livestock, seed, feed, and other supplies; establish marketing programs; maintain financial and production records; perform general farm duties; recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers.
- Supervision: 5-10 people.
- Type of crops: Blueberries.
- Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail; bending, crouching, kneeling; fast-paced environment; hand-eye co-ordination; handling heavy loads; physically demanding; standing for extended periods; tight deadlines; work under pressure.
- Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years.
- Green job: Involves duties and responsibilities that lead to positive environmental outcomes.
- Other benefits: Transportation provided by employer; permanent employment; 40 hours per week.
