About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to lead our accounting and clerical department in the Winnipeg, Manitoba region. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for planning and directing all accounting operational functions, including the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of accounting professionals across multiple offices in Canada and the USA
  • Research, prepare, and execute finance department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation
  • Analyze and improve policies, procedures, controls, and methodologies
  • Review and revise deliverables to ensure they meet client expectations
  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations, and G/L analysis
  • Present monthly financial reports to the executive committee and partners
  • Manage the creation and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings, collections, and payroll
  • Prepare cash-flow reports and handle daily cash management
Requirements
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller
  • CPA designation and costing experience required
  • Remarkable analytical, quantitative, and social skills
  • Self-starter with ability to identify issues and resolve problems
  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment highly valued
  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures
  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
