About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring safe and effective drug therapy for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and oversee drug distribution systems, including inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Supervise pharmacy support staff and identify and resolve drug-related problems.
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including drug regimen review, medication reconciliation, pharmacokinetic monitoring, and individual and group patient medication teaching.
  • Collaborate with the medical team to make therapeutic recommendations and provide discharge medication calendars and counseling to patients.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of Pharmacy Students and other hospital personnel.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or an entry-level Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy from a CCAPP (or similar standard) accredited university.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program is preferred.
  • Licensed to practice Pharmacy in the Province of Nova Scotia.
  • Minimum two years of experience in clinical practice in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of drugs and therapeutics.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make accurate and timely recommendations regarding safe and cost-effective use of drugs.
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.
