Health Sciences North (HSN) is in search of a visionary leader for the role of Finance Director. This position is pivotal in shaping departmental objectives while aligning with the overarching vision and strategic goals of HSN.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and oversee departmental objectives that align with HSN's strategic direction.
  • Implement robust financial controls across all finance functions, including cash management, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Conduct regular assessments of finance personnel to ensure optimal job performance and task completion.
  • Develop and maintain strong control systems to safeguard HSN's assets.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data and reporting.
  • Participate in various committees, providing financial expertise and leadership.
  • Plan and execute special projects that align with HSN's strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in financial reporting.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and finance staff on financial matters.
  • Collaborate with external health organizations regarding financial data submissions.
  • Review and enhance existing processes and policies to drive efficiency.
  • Promote the adoption of lean methodologies across the finance department.
  • Develop annual budgets and ensure fiscal accountability for departmental operations.
  • Foster a safe environment for all stakeholders and manage incident reporting and corrective actions.
  • Oversee human resource functions, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and HSN policies.
  • Provide on-call support for urgent financial issues outside regular hours.
  • Align improvement initiatives with HSN's strategic objectives and monitor progress.
  • Engage in the accreditation process to maintain and enhance HSN's accredited status.
  • Encourage professional development and learning opportunities for all finance staff.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve program objectives and enhance service delivery.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • A Master's Degree in Business or a related field, along with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Completion of health and safety awareness training is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of seven years in a leadership role within a financial setting, preferably in health care.
  • Experience in financial planning, accounting, and internal controls is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
