Job Overview:
The role of the Settlement Caseworker at The Salvation Army focuses on aiding newcomers in navigating vital information and service systems through personalized settlement strategies and case management. Key duties include organizing and implementing settlement initiatives to foster successful integration for individuals new to the community.
Work Schedule:
- Employment Type: Regular Full-time; 40 hours per week
- Work Days: Monday to Friday
- Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
- Number of Positions Available: 1
Main Responsibilities:
Client Case Management (70%)
- Assist clients throughout the settlement journey
- Evaluate client eligibility for various programs
- Maintain comprehensive case file documentation
- Conduct intake and discharge processes
- Oversee living conditions
- Develop and execute case management plans
- Monitor client behavior and provide necessary support
- Ensure a safe and secure environment
- Engage in training sessions and community events
Program Implementation (15%)
- Contribute to the development of settlement programs
- Coordinate and lead program activities
- Organize community engagement events
- Create procedural guidelines for programs
Community Outreach (7%)
- Deliver direct services to clients
- Design and assess outreach initiatives
- Support specialized projects and partnerships
- Act as a representative for newcomer services
Additional Responsibilities (3%)
- Exhibit respect, integrity, and empathy
- Commit to ongoing professional development
- Carry out assigned tasks as needed
Qualifications and Educational Background:
Education/Certifications:
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary program
- Relevant certifications in first aid, crisis intervention, etc.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years of applicable experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- In-depth understanding of settlement and community resources
Essential Skills/Knowledge:
- Ability to align with the organization's mission
- Adherence to health and safety standards
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities
- Capability to work with diverse cultural groups
- Effective organizational and time management skills
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of a criminal record check and child abuse registry check
- Fulfillment of mandatory training requirements
