About the Role
We are seeking a Java Software Engineer to join our Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) team. As a Java Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing market-leading solutions for various projects within GBME. You will work closely with business teams and cross-functional engineering leaders to design, develop, and implement scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
- Work closely with business teams to understand business needs and develop solutions
- Participate in the full life cycle of a project, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment
- Design and implement database schemas
- Design and automate test sets, including functional and non-functional testing, regression testing, and performance testing
- Write deployment scripts and leverage tools such as the Accelerator pipeline to promote code
- Improve the end-user experience by finding scalable solutions and addressing complex ad-hoc queries
- Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
- Participate in SCRUM meetings
Requirements
- 4+ years of recent experience in backend development, specifically in Java and Spring Boot
- 4+ years of recent experience working with Python
- Working experience with database and SQL, including Postgres, MSSQL, and Oracle
- Working experience with Shell scripting in Unix/Linux environments
- Working experience in an Agile environment, with experience and understanding of Test-Driven Development methodology
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or relevant experience
- Capital markets experience, including understanding of front, middle, and back-office operations
- Experience in Java multi-threaded applications
- Working experience with containerized systems in public cloud, including Azure or GKE/GCP
