About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is currently seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team in the Emergency Department at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the transformation of healthcare delivery in our province.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain health history and conduct comprehensive physical assessments to formulate a differential diagnosis and determine further clinical investigation requirements
  • Order preliminary diagnostic testing and interpret results, formulating a treatment and management plan based on assessment and investigation findings
  • Implement effective treatment plans, including preventive and therapeutic interventions, demonstrating appropriate procedural skills
  • Collaborate with and seek consultation from supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals involved in patient care

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited recognized Physician Assistant program in Canada or the United States
  • Certification through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council (PACC) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Eligible for license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons Nova Scotia
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants
  • Medical Liability Insurance required
  • Recent emergency medicine experience and certifications in ACLS, PALS, and ATLS
