Job Title: Signals & Communications Technician

Canadian Pacific (CP) and Kansas City Southern (KCS) have merged to form CPKC, the only truly North American railway. As a Signals & Communications Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our 20,000-mile network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on signals and communication systems to ensure safe train operation.
  • Use digital and analog multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • Collaborate with vendors to repair and return defective circuit cards and components.
  • Utilize computers for diagnostics, software updates, and other technical tasks.
  • Conduct tests, inspections, and repairs to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Document test and inspection reports, and provide technical support as needed.
Requirements:
  • Technician or Technologist Diploma in Communications or Electronics from a recognized technical college.
  • Valid driver's license and Class 3 license with air brake qualification (an asset).
  • Ability to respond to emergent work outside regular hours.
  • Previous railroad experience is preferred.
  • Strong safety-oriented work ethic and ability to follow instructions and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel alone, often in remote areas.
