Job Summary

The Assistant Operations Manager is a key member of the Gordon Ramsay Steak team, reporting directly to the Manager, Operations. This role is responsible for assisting with the management, profitability, and day-to-day operations of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on leadership and development to the front-of-house staff, ensuring they meet the highest standards of customer service and hospitality.
  • Direct the day-to-day activities of the front-of-house team, ensuring seamless execution of service and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed, minimizing errors and maximizing revenue.
  • Assist in maximizing revenue and minimizing operating costs, contributing to the overall success of the restaurant.
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with team members, back-of-house staff, and the restaurant management team to ensure a cohesive and efficient operation.
  • Develop and cultivate exceptional guest experiences, fostering a loyal customer base and driving repeat business.
  • Contribute to the overall company goals, initiatives, and objectives, aligning with the values and mission of Great Canadian Entertainment.
  • Manage time and attendance records, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Manage the performance of the front-of-house team, providing coaching and development opportunities to drive growth and improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and other statutory requirements.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and onboarding of team members, and in department meetings, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, supporting the overall success of the restaurant.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in food and beverage operations management in a premium restaurant or establishment.
  • Post-secondary education in culinary and/or hospitality management, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Serving It Right Certification or the ability to obtain it.
  • Proven ability to drive profitability in food and beverage operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and mentor a team.
  • Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet multiple deadlines while maintaining high customer service levels and a positive presentation.
  • Proven interpersonal service skills, organization skills to plan time effectively, and work without direct supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, with financial analysis experience an asset.
  • The ability to successfully pass a criminal record check through the Gaming Policy Enforcement Branch.
  • Strong working knowledge of Micros and Squirrel systems.

  • Regular office, restaurant, or casino environment, standing or walking for long periods of time, and non-traditional work hours.
