Exciting Opportunity for an Area Forester

The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking an Area Forester to enhance their team. In this role, you will:

  • Oversee a dedicated team tasked with regulating forestry operations and ensuring adherence to regulations on Crown Forest lands
  • Evaluate and authorize operational plans for the forestry sector
  • Monitor compliance within the designated area
  • Facilitate public engagement regarding forest management practices
  • Offer guidance and expertise in forest policy
  • Collaborate with specialists in resource management

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Strong leadership skills to mentor and develop a diverse team
  • In-depth knowledge of ecosystem-based forest management strategies
  • Proven experience in forestry operations and relevant legislation
  • Insight into policy formulation and procedural development
  • Capability to manage public consultation initiatives

This position requires fieldwork and travel. A degree in forestry along with pertinent experience is essential. Candidates must hold a valid driver's license and be eligible for registration as a Registered Professional Forester.
