Boreal Landscape Analyst

Job Summary:
The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Boreal Landscape Analyst. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting regional assessments to evaluate the current status of forest landscape health, analyzing geospatial data to assess landscape-level forest management plan objectives, and engaging with forestry experts to ensure compliance with forest planning targets and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in regional assessments to evaluate the current status of forest landscape health and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze geospatial data to assess landscape-level forest management plan objectives and provide recommendations for optimization.
- Conduct field assessments on landscape-level forest management plan objectives in Saskatchewan's forests to ensure compliance with forest planning targets and protocols.
- Engage with forestry experts to ensure that forest management practices align with sustainable forest management principles and regulations.
- Develop and present compelling presentations to communicate with various stakeholders, government bodies, industry representatives, and the public on forest health and management practices.
- Represent the Government of Saskatchewan in boreal landscape-related groups and forums to promote sustainable forest management practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in forestry, ecology, or a related biological science.
- Hands-on experience in forest landscape ecology or management.
- Technical analysis and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Eligibility for membership as a Registered Professional Forester or Registered Professional Forest Technologist with the Association of Saskatchewan Forestry Professionals.
- Valid driver's license for travel to meetings and fieldwork engagements.
