Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Home Care Resource Coordinator, the Home Care Attendant functions as a member of the Home Care team and is responsible for providing personal care and home support services to clients in their own homes. The incumbent will exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods, and action to be taken on unusual matters.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide personal care and home support services to clients, including assistance with daily living activities, mobility, and hygiene
• Assist clients with meal preparation, grocery shopping, and household tasks
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment for clients, including cleaning and organizing living spaces
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, families, and healthcare professionals
• Collaborate with the Home Care Resource Coordinator to develop and implement care plans
• Maintain accurate records and reports of client interactions and care provided
• Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements:
• Grade 12 education required
• Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with community component from a recognized post-secondary institute
• Knowledge of Safe Food Handling
• Previous experience working with the elderly or disabled in a community setting is preferred
• Previous experience working in a home care program is an asset
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
• Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills
• Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions
• Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality and maintain client privacy
• Good work and attendance record

Working Conditions:
• Work in clients' homes, community settings, and occasionally in an office environment
• May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• May be required to lift, move, and transfer clients
• May be exposed to infectious diseases and hazardous materials
