Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter and Finisher to join our team at UNION GENERAL CONTRACTING INC. The ideal candidate will have experience in woodworking, construction, and finishing techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare layouts and designs for building projects, using measuring tools and software
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware
  • Instruct apprentices and trainees in woodworking and construction techniques
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various settings
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in woodworking, construction, or a related field
  • Ability to work in a noisy and dusty environment
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced construction environment, with varying temperatures and humidity levels. The work will involve standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
