Position Overview:

The Senior Specialist in Application Operations plays a pivotal role in ensuring the stability and performance of high-traffic payment systems at Interac Corp. This position requires a hands-on approach with a focus on Site Reliability Engineering and Application Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drive application stability and service automation initiatives, collaborating with both business and technical teams to ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  2. Enhance application performance by utilizing monitoring and diagnostic tools to achieve service excellence.
  3. Analyze application trends, proactively identifying issues and working with Agile teams to conduct root cause analysis and implement necessary enhancements.
  4. Develop scalable solutions aimed at minimizing manual processes and optimizing application deployment and validation.
  5. Implement application changes and configurations across all environments through automation, ensuring system reliability and stability.
  6. Design and standardize application insights, focusing on observability and predictive analysis for proactive interventions.
  7. Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for applications and systems.
  8. Automate dashboards and reports on application performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  9. Collaborate with development, service management, operations, and security teams to integrate best practices into Application Operations.
  10. Maintain awareness of technology trends and vulnerabilities, focusing on process improvements and automation.
  11. Provide 24/7 support for critical production systems, quickly resolving issues and mitigating risks.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  2. Over 3 years of advanced programming experience in languages such as Java, Python, and frameworks like Spring.
  3. Proficient in version control systems, particularly Git.
  4. Familiarity with open-source packages, especially Spring and data transformation tools.
  5. Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, and Ansible.
  6. Knowledge of Agile methodologies and ITIL framework.
  7. Experience with Dockerized applications and cloud technologies, including Azure and AWS.
  8. Ability to analyze data and proactively address risks to production systems.
  9. Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with various stakeholders.
  10. A collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Certification in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  2. Understanding of database systems like Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  3. Certification as an Azure Administrator Associate or similar.
  4. Experience in Agile teams and familiarity with the financial services sector.
  5. Experience with 24/7 on-call support for critical systems.
