We are seeking a dedicated Accessible Technology Program Specialist who is committed to fostering inclusive and equitable environments across Canada, ensuring that individuals with low vision can access limitless opportunities and live without barriers.
Your Contributions at CNIB
- Conduct engaging virtual and in-person workshops to teach low vision and blind participants how to effectively use their iOS and Windows devices, focusing on built-in and additional accessibility features.
- Assess the needs for accessible technology programs and design initiatives to educate and train participants, applying best practices for both existing and new offerings.
- Lead, inspire, and train a team of volunteers to provide personalized technology training in Southern Alberta.
- Establish and oversee evaluation processes for all Accessible Technology Programs to measure outcomes.
- Continuously seek ways to enhance service delivery metrics and achieve key performance indicators by utilizing available impact and evaluation data to improve participant experiences.
- Stay informed about best practices and advancements in technology programming for individuals who are blind or partially sighted, proactively suggesting improvements to our services.
- Advocate for awareness of provincial and national discussions regarding accessibility technology, resources, funding opportunities, and specialized products for individuals with sight loss.
SmartLife Coaching Responsibilities
- Guide customers through the SmartLife Centre and e-commerce platform, recommending suitable technology and devices while providing demonstrations and training. Facilitate purchase transactions as needed.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies to engage SmartLife customers with both existing and new accessible technologies.
- Recruit and manage a collaborative team of students, CNIB Talent Pool members, and volunteers to enhance the SmartLife Centre experience.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers through SmartLife Centres and virtual programming, leveraging CNIB's portfolio of accessibility products and services.
- Represent SmartLife at technology fairs and demonstrations, facilitating connections with leading assistive technology vendors when appropriate.
General Responsibilities
- Oversee regional Salesforce content, ensuring accurate data entry and efficient client referral processes.
- Maintain up-to-date participant records and complete service tracking promptly; participate in internal meetings and prepare reports on programs and activities.
- Collaborate with other CNIB Foundation and Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada experts and departments to provide resources and support.
Qualifications
Who You Are:
Education and Certifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field.
Experience and Skills
- 2-3 years of experience in program development, customer service, and program delivery within a non-profit or charitable organization.
- Proven knowledge and proficiency with accessible hardware, software technologies, and related consumer products.
- Personal or professional experience related to blindness and sight loss is an asset.
- Experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is also an asset.
Work Environment
- Flexibility to work varied hours and from different locations.
- Some travel within Alberta may be necessary.
