Role and Responsibilities:

The Board of Directors Member will serve as an ambassador for the Toronto Arts Council, promoting the organization's mission and values within the community. Key responsibilities include:

  • Advocating for the vitality and importance of Toronto's arts community
  • Understanding the organization's mission, values, and major activities
  • Championing the organization's cause to the wider community
  • Representing the Toronto Arts Council in a professional manner
  • Maintaining an active interest in the organization's affairs and programs

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Knowledge and experience in the arts, either in a professional or volunteer capacity
  • A demonstrated understanding of the Toronto experience
  • No real or perceived bias respecting any special interest group
  • A commitment to the best interests of the entire arts community

Commitment and Time Requirements:

Board members are expected to attend meetings regularly and become familiar with community interests within the realm of the organization's mandate. A significant commitment of time is required to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
