Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team at Verve Senior Living. As an RPN, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
Accountability Objective:As an RPN, you will be responsible for:
- Providing direct resident care, including administering medications, performing treatments, and assisting with daily living activities.
- Assessing the needs of individual residents and developing personalized care plans to promote maximum independence.
- Participating in the development and implementation of a plan of care for residents, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care.
- Supervising and guiding care staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality care is delivered.
- Maintaining accurate records of nursing observations and procedures performed, completing all required reports.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A minimum of grade 12 education and a recognized nursing license (RPN licensing) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Certification in Emergency First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Previous experience working as an RPN in a healthcare setting is an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, evaluating and meeting resident care needs, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
As an RPN at Verve Senior Living, you will be responsible for:
- Participating in and adhering to continuous quality improvement standards.
- Assessing the needs of individual residents and organizing plans of care to promote maximum resident independence.
- Ensuring resident files are established with proper documentation and safe practices related to medication administration processes.
- Updating resident plans of care every 6 months, or as required.
- Carrying out planned assignments as designated by the Health and Wellness Manager/Director of Care/Health and Wellness Supervisor, or delegate, for effective resident care.
- Supervising the care given by attendants or designated staff, in accordance with resident care plans and providing job guidance to general duty attendants.
- Distributing medications and providing treatments to residents in accordance with current and approved standards of care, policies, and procedures.
- Answering emergency calls from residents, giving assistance where possible, and contacting professional help and/or family when necessary.
- Providing direct resident care, in accordance with current and approved standards of care, policies, and procedures.
- Complying with infection control protocols as directed, e.g., outbreak management.
- Acting as a leader and helping develop employees to ensure an adequate level of service and job standard are achieved.
- Maintaining accurate records of nursing observations and procedures performed, completing all required reports.
- Assisting in maintaining a neat, clean, and safe environment for residents and personnel, recognizing safety hazards and taking appropriate action.
- Assisting with safekeeping of all medication and nursing solutions in the residence.
- Reporting all incidents and changes in resident status to the Health and Wellness Manager/Director of Care/Health and Wellness Supervisor, and subsequent shift, as well as completing shift reports.
- Participating as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in the development of, and implementation of, a plan of care for residents that supports independence.
- Keeping the Health and Wellness Manager informed of staff member performance.
- Assisting in monitoring and evaluating the outcome of specific interventions regularly and offering information or suggestions for improvement.
- Providing ongoing support to co-workers and acting as an advocate for residents and families to ensure residents' rights are protected.
- Utilizing equipment and supplies effectively and in accordance with policies and procedures, manufacturer's instructions, and health and safety regulations.
- Serving beverages and resident meals in the dining room, as requested.
- Assisting with other duties to ensure the smooth functioning of the residence, including housekeeping and laundry duties, maintaining adequate stock of supplies, as required.
- Maintaining effective communication, both written and verbal, with co-workers, using the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff, and good interpersonal relations with residents, families, physicians, and other departments.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Health and Wellness Manager/Director of Care/Health and Wellness Supervisor or delegate.
- Complying with all corporate policies and procedures.
- Completing all required mandatory training/education.
- Complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System/Globally Harmonized System.
