Job Title: Transportation Technologist

The City of Courtenay is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Technologist to join our team in the Transportation Division of the Operational Services Department.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual with a strong background in civil engineering and transportation management. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and providing technical expertise in the field of traffic and transportation engineering, including road and intersection operational assessments, road safety reviews and improvements, access management, and development proposal reviews.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and provide technical expertise in traffic and transportation engineering
  • Oversee and ensure the effective delivery of various traffic programs
  • Administer assigned capital projects
  • Issue permits and street licenses for traffic-related activities
  • Review and process engineering applications
  • Coordinate related construction and installation work
Requirements:
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized educational institution
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License
  • Eligible for membership in Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in civil/municipal engineering, specifically related to transportation and traffic management
  • Experience in the use of GIS, AutoCAD, and related software
  • Experience in project management and contract administration
