Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Afternoon Shift Supervisor to join our team at Emterra Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the afternoon shift, ensuring seamless production, logistics, and maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of plant employees, including maintenance personnel, to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Optimize afternoon shift production, clean-up, and maintenance activities to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance repairs, including spot welding, greasing, replacing bearings, conveyor belt repairs, and operating forklifts, snorkel lifts, and front-end loaders as required.
  • Lead and coach team members on maintenance repairs and contribute to maintenance activities.
  • Prepare and submit internal reports, including bale counts, facility inspections, pre- and post-trip reports, daily MRF statistics, and audit reports.
  • Monitor the general flow of materials through the system and take proactive measures to maximize throughput.
  • Maintain calendars and logbooks on plant and mobile equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with local and federal legislated obligations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and the Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) issued by the Ministry of Environment.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all workers under your direct supervision.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a plant supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience in equipment maintenance and welding.
  • Excellent interpersonal, team-building, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of safety responsibilities in the workplace.
  • Ability to use mobile equipment and train and evaluate operators on mobile equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid computer skills with proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience in a recycling, material recovery, or material handling facility is an asset.
  • Experience with PLC programming/controls is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license.
Working Environment

This role requires working in a plant environment, with exposure to extreme weather conditions, dust, noise, heat, cold, and fumes found in a shop environment. You will also be exposed to residential and commercial waste and recycling, as well as equipment traffic.
