JOB TITLE: SUMMER INTERNSHIP I
WORK LOCATION: BAKERSFIELD AREA
REPORTS TO: DEPARTMENT MANAGER
COMPENSATION: $18.50 / HOUR (based on academic standing)
PURPOSE:
The Summer Internship I role at Grimmway Farms is designed to offer an introduction to professional work experiences for current freshman and sophomore students. This internship spans ten to twelve weeks and is scheduled during the summer months. Interns will receive compensation, and opportunities for college credit are available.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities will vary based on departmental needs. The Internship I program will provide insights into departmental functions and daily job responsibilities, creating an exploratory environment for students at the beginning of their career paths. Interns will engage in both team-oriented and independent tasks, gaining valuable experience and skills necessary for navigating a professional workplace. This role will enhance problem-solving abilities, apply academic knowledge, and foster the development of essential soft skills.

FARMING: General, Agronomy, Organics, Quality, Food Safety, Innovation.
OPERATIONS: General, Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Packaging, Purchasing, Transportation and Logistics, Construction and Engineering, Equipment Maintenance.
OTHER: Sales, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resources, Safety, IT, Corporate Communication.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements may differ by position and could include the ability to frequently move within office settings, food processing facilities, and agricultural fields. Interns should be capable of operating computers and other office equipment. Occasionally, remaining stationary for extended periods may be necessary. The role may involve outdoor work in varying temperatures, ranging from 30° F to 110° F, and requires the ability to inspect equipment and products. Interns may also need to work in high-noise environments.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be qualified to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship. Applicants should be actively enrolled as full-time college students, maintaining a status of 12 or more credit hours, and must have a classification of freshman or sophomore.
