Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-oriented individual to join our team as a Plant Maintenance Lead Hand. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our plant, including maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities

Safety and Workplace Environment

  • Ensure a safe working environment by following all policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with site management and staff to execute improvement projects, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain equipment and tools provided with the position.
  • Participate in daily plant operations as needed.

Plant Improvement Projects, Repairs, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting

  • Report to management and work with plant staff to complete projects, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshoot plant functions and operational problems.
  • Direct plant staff on hand and utilize man hours on projects.
  • Complete projects in a timely manner while managing an open schedule.
  • Schedule yourself in coordination with plant management's requirements and guidance.

Relationships with Others

  • Work with and/or lead subcontractors, ensuring they are working safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with plant staff as a team.

Dimensions

  • Report to GCA plant management and the operations support manager.
  • 15 plant staff/co-workers, subcontractors/plumbing/electrical/fabricators.
  • 15,000+ m3 of ready-mix production per year from 5 plants.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • WCB welder certification, or 2nd year apprenticeship; Journeyperson certification would be an asset.
  • Active Class 5 driver's license a minimum, drivers abstract is required upon offer of employment.

Experience and Skill Set

  • Shop fabrication setting and experience an asset.
  • Individual must be safety-oriented, motivated, efficient, and able to work independently.
  • Current active safety tickets are an asset but not required.
  • Must be flexible on availability and willing to perform all required tasks.

Additional Requirements

A pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, may be required.
