ENGEL Machinery North America is seeking a Service Technician to join our Service Department. This role involves supporting our clientele in a designated region.

Job Overview:

The Service Technician operates remotely at client locations, responsible for installing and maintaining equipment while providing necessary training and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Troubleshoot and repair injection molding machines and robotic systems, conducting tests and inspections on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic components to enhance performance. Execute software and hardware installations.
  2. Conduct safety checks on all equipment.
  3. Educate clients on equipment usage and provide operational training.
  4. Oversee the resolution of client issues, including ordering and installing replacement parts as needed.
  5. Diagnose control system problems and develop organized strategies for troubleshooting and repairs.
  6. Train other Service Technicians and client operators on maintenance and safe operation of injection molding systems.
  7. Maintain ongoing communication with Central Service, Manufacturing, and Parts Center to resolve field issues.
  8. Submit regular written reports to the Service Manager.

Educational Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma is mandatory.
  2. Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Experience:

  1. Minimum of 5 years in injection molding troubleshooting or processing, or prior experience as a Field Service Technician or Service Engineer in this field.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  2. Proficient with injection molding machines, possessing a well-rounded skill set in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and computer systems, with the ability to provide basic training.
  3. In-depth knowledge of the injection molding process.
  4. Systematic troubleshooting skills.
  5. Familiarity with microprocessor programming.
  6. Knowledge of materials such as PET, Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Styrene, and other common substances.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  8. Ability to handle challenging customer interactions with tact and diplomacy.
  9. A collaborative team player with a positive outlook.
  10. Familiarity with ENGEL machinery and robotics is advantageous.
  11. Efficiently utilize internal resources to resolve customer issues promptly and accurately.
  12. Capable of working independently with minimal back-office support.
