Job Summary

The Multi Service Worker is a key member of our team, responsible for providing exceptional service to our residents and clients. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the setup and serving of food from counters and steam tables, ensuring that all food is prepared and presented to a high standard.
  2. Clean and sanitize equipment and workstations, maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents and staff.
  3. Operate a variety of kitchen utensils to prepare and serve food, including weighing, measuring, mixing, and serving.
  4. Understand and follow all policies and procedures for maintaining key control of operations, and for activities ensuring opening, closing, and daily procedures are completed.
  5. Provide general stocking duties in service areas, and keep records and requisition for supplies and equipment as needed.
  6. Interact positively with customers and assist them as needed, providing exceptional customer service.
  7. Attend mandatory in-services and participate in committees as required.
  8. Perform all general housekeeping and laundry duties as required, including deep cleaning and disinfecting of requested areas or rooms.
  9. Deliver and distribute personal clothing to resident rooms, and pick up and deliver exchange linen/personals carts and soiled bins.
  10. Assist with waste management processes, and participate in the infection control program in accordance with the Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee (PIDAC).
  11. Assume an active role in the implementation of quality management mechanisms, such as home audits, and perform other duties as assigned.
  12. Participate in and demonstrate an understanding of Resident Safety principles and practices, and follow safe work practices and procedures.
  13. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Long Term Care Homes Act, and their regulations, and maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Personal Health Information Protection Act.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 OSSD
  • Completion of the Food Handler/Proton Training Program
  • Smart Serve Certification
  • Basic ability to follow oral and written instructions, and to communicate with residents and staff
  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is less than six (6) months old at time of hire
  • As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing, as per Public Health requirements
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset
Work Environment

This position is located in a long term care facility and retirement village, and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to illnesses and germs on a daily basis.

Work schedule to be determined, with shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
