About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled OSS Network Engineer to join our team at Telesat. As an OSS Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our network by designing, implementing, and maintaining Operational Support Systems (OSS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design, develop, implement, and enhance Operational Support Systems to monitor and manage Carrier Ethernet and IP customer services and network resources, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Vendor Management: Work closely with vendors to evaluate and implement new OSS solutions and stay up to date with industry trends.
  • Review and Approval: Review and approve design and development solution documents, internal and external test strategies, plans, and scripts.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of OSS requirements, configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Network Monitoring: Implement real-time network monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve network issues, minimizing downtime.
  • Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve complex OSS implementation and network problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Automation: Develop and maintain automated scripts and tools to streamline network operations and improve efficiency.
  • Security: Implement and enforce security best practices to protect network systems and data integrity.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze network performance data and provide insights for capacity planning and network optimization.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3-6 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of design principles, and specifications for standardized and interoperable OSS.
  • Network Management: Strong knowledge of network management protocols, including NETCONF/RESTCONF, gNMI, TMForum APIs, MEF LSO APIs, CloudEvents, OpenMetrics, Openflow, ONF TAPI, etc.
  • MEF LSO: Strong knowledge of MEF Lifecycle Service Orchestration framework.
  • OSS Tools: Hands-on experience with OSS tools and platforms such as Netcracker Digital OSS, ONAP, Ciena Blue Planet, Amdocs, etc.
  • Carrier Ethernet: Hands-on experience with Carrier Ethernet technologies, standards, and protocols.
  • TMForum: Familiarity with TMForum Open Digital Architecture (ODA), Process Framework (eTOM) and Information Framework (SID).
  • MBSE: Familiarity with Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and/or UML.
Working Conditions
  • Hybrid Workplace: Hybrid workplace model with three days a week in the office.
  • Travel: Occasional travel is anticipated.

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
