Mainline Construction Ltd. is in search of a skilled Excavation Equipment Operator. Reporting directly to the Foreman, the Excavator Operator will be tasked with the safe and efficient handling of the excavation machinery while executing assigned responsibilities to ensure that the work is completed in accordance with contract specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate the excavation machinery and other heavy equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety inspections on the machinery.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks, ensuring equipment is clean, lubricated, and refilled as necessary.
  • Collaborate with ground personnel during the excavation and installation phases of laying pipes.
  • Ensure trenches are excavated to the correct depth and grade.
  • Manage the placement of water, storm, and sanitary sewer pipes within the excavation.
  • Follow instructions from the ground crew regarding craning, gravel placement, and grading.
  • Efficiently cut grade to minimize excavation time and keep production on schedule.
  • Conduct trench work that adheres to health and safety regulations.
  • Operate equipment on public roadways while maintaining situational awareness.
  • Possess a solid understanding of ground disturbance issues.
  • Ensure proper rigging of pipes and manhole barrels, adhering to safe work procedures during material lowering.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with experience in related construction activities.
  • Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • A minimum of 2–3 years of experience operating excavation machinery is essential.
  • Ability to work under various weather conditions.
