Job Summary
The Medical Physicist plays a crucial role in the Radiation Treatment Program at Hamilton Health Sciences, providing scientific and technical expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for the specification, acceptance testing, commissioning, and calibration of equipment used in the Radiotherapy Department, as well as the implementation of Quality Assurance Programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supply scientific expertise to the Centre through the application of physics to medicine
- Plan and implement new treatment techniques and/or technologies
- Advise Radiation Oncologists and Dosimetrists as required
- Conduct ongoing research and provide education for residents, students, and visitors
Requirements
- PhD in Medical Physics or a related subject from a recognized university
- Demonstrated scientific problem-solving ability
- Successful completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency in radiation oncology physics or equivalent
- Certified or eligible for certification in radiation oncology physics by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workload
Working Conditions
The Medical Physicist will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring flexibility and adaptability. The position involves working extended hours, overtime, and evenings/weekends as required.
