The School of Science, Engineering and Information Technology is seeking an experienced and motivated part-time professor to teach Sample Management (CHEM 2203) in the Chemical Laboratory Technician program.

About the Role

This one-semester course provides students with a theoretical and practical understanding of laboratory workflow. Students will gain insights into the complexities of a laboratory system, encompassing the receipt, organization, prioritization, and transmission of information. The course explores the movement of samples from collection to analysis and storage, emphasizing process control as a crucial component of the quality management system in the laboratory. Practical exercises complement lecture content, further developing skills associated with the lifecycle of a sample in the lab according to industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Cultivate a positive learning environment that embraces students' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.
  • Utilize adult education principles to actively engage students in the learning process.
  • Effectively leverage educational technologies to support learning, manage and post grades, and deliver hybrid and online courses.
  • Develop curriculum that employs appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning.
  • Ensure that course and program curriculum remains current and relevant.
  • Work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Collaborate effectively with students, the program team, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant educational credentials and a proven track record of relevant work/teaching experience. Applicants must possess the appropriate accreditation or trade certification.
