Overview:
The role involves leading guests on multi-day kayaking excursions in vibrant marine settings. All guides at ROW Sea Kayak Adventures are expected to maintain exceptional standards of hospitality, safety, and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely lead guests on kayaking excursions in diverse marine environments
- Implement effective risk management strategies in remote locations
- Embody ROW SKA's Mission, Vision, and Values
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for guests
- Keep equipment and facilities in optimal condition
- Conduct interpretive presentations and facilitate guest activities
- Complete necessary trip-related documentation promptly
- Adhere to sustainability practices and Leave No Trace principles
- Engage in all job-related tasks and meetings
- Communicate effectively with both colleagues and guests
Qualifications:
- Legally permitted to work in Canada
- Must meet age criteria for insurance purposes
- Hold relevant first aid and CPR certifications
- Possess necessary kayaking certifications or equivalent qualifications
- Exhibit strong teamwork, communication, and physical fitness
- Demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Have experience in guest services, leadership, or a related field
- Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19
Training Requirements:
Guides are required to complete all necessary training and receive approval before commencing paid guiding duties. New guides will not receive compensation for training, but returning guides may qualify for end-of-season pay for attending the training trip.
Equipment Responsibility:
Guides must provide their own gear, including kayaking equipment and appropriate clothing. Multi-day guides will require additional camping gear. Work schedules are full-time and may vary based on bookings.
Performance Evaluation:
Guides will be assessed based on their performance, attitude, teamwork, initiative, and interpersonal relationships. Compensation is determined by experience and skills, with housing provided at all outposts.
