Position Overview

Our Automation & Digitalization division is seeking an Electrical & Controls Project Engineer or Technologist. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and executing high-quality electrical and control engineering projects aimed at enhancing productivity, reliability, and sustainability for our North American clientele.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients and colleagues to address operational challenges and facilitate system upgrade initiatives.
  • Conduct audits of industrial facilities and formulate preliminary engineering designs and cost estimates for electrical and control system enhancements.
  • Design low and medium voltage electrical power systems, encompassing equipment specifications, motor control, grounding systems, cable sizing, and electrical room layouts.
  • Prepare and assess tender and construction documentation, including electrical and instrumentation schematics, installation specifications, and supplementary materials.
  • Complete designs for electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, including P&ID diagrams, control system architecture, and instrumentation setups.
  • Develop control strategies to optimize system performance, and program and configure DCS and PLC/HMI applications.
  • Conduct system testing, checkout, and commissioning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or technology diploma in electrical engineering.
  • Experience in industrial automation engineering is advantageous.
  • Background in pulp & paper, mining, or chemical industries is preferred.
  • Resourceful, self-motivated, and goal-oriented while effectively collaborating within a team.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Registered as a P.Eng/EIT or AScT in British Columbia.
  • Familiarity with North American standards.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 5-20%).

Additional Skills

  • Consulting engineering experience.
  • Experience in site audits, commissioning, construction, and start-up processes.

Salary Range: $71,000 to $115,000, commensurate with experience, based on a 37.5-hour work week.
