Job Summary

The Kootenay Employment Services Society is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Planner I to join our team. As a key member of our planning department, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our community through effective land use planning and urban development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the formulation, implementation, and improvement of master plans for physical development and land use planning services.
  • Respond to land use inquiries, process and review land use development applications, and assist in preparing public notices.
  • Write technical and planning reports, correspondence, and administer land use bylaw applications.
  • Review subdivision applications, attend Design Review panel meetings, and generate mapping and computer graphics as needed.

Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary program in Land Use Planning or a related field.
  • Two to three years of employment experience in land use or development planning, preferably in a municipal setting.
  • Experience with GIS, or other mapping and graphics software.
  • Membership eligibility in the Canadian Institute of Planners and Planning Institute of BC.
  • Class 5 Driver's License with N abstract.
