The Artistic Director will report directly to the Vice-President of Ideation, with the primary responsibility of articulating and executing a cohesive artistic vision across various creative disciplines, ensuring alignment with project goals and aspirations. This role requires a seasoned professional who can effectively communicate artistic strategies within a collaborative environment, while also innovating the processes of game development.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and define the visual identity of products;
- Create and implement visual style guides, including moodboards and design imagery;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in creative, technology, and production to meet essential project milestones;
- Assess and plan the requirements of the art department, emphasizing product excellence;
- Engage in the recruitment process for artistic talent;
- Balance technical and artistic needs effectively;
- Oversee and guide artistic teams throughout project phases;
- Provide visionary leadership to inspire the overall project direction;
- Mentor and develop the artistic team;
- Adhere to confidentiality and IT security protocols while utilizing shared resources;
- Perform additional related duties as necessary.
- Over 5 years of leadership experience in art direction for mid-tier and high-end video games;
- A minimum of 10 years in the gaming industry;
- Comprehensive knowledge of all artistic fields, including concept art, character design, animation, environment art, visual effects, user interface design, lighting, shading, and rendering;
- Innovative mindset with a profound understanding of the creative workflow;
- A robust portfolio showcasing personal and professional artistic accomplishments;
- Experience in developing original intellectual properties for video games;
- Familiarity with game engines;
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to visualize and convey ideas effectively;
- Capability to contribute directly to artistic production through tangible examples;
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
