About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Pursuits team at Plan Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting and leading integrated pursuits with a mechanical focus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and lead specific Alternate Financing & Procurement (AFP) Integrated Pursuits with a mechanical focus, working closely with multi-discipline groups in estimation and operations.
  • Read and clearly understand issued Statements of Requirements, review and interpret job specifications and drawings, and develop competitive pricing through the estimating process.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders to gather information, clarify specifications, and present to clients and partners.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure efficient designs that balance prescription and cost control.
  • Work with consultants to complete system layouts and assist with estimating processes.
  • Produce accurate quotations using estimating software and coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain pricing.
  • Coordinate system installation requirements with other design disciplines as needed.
  • Research new systems, resources, and analytical processes to identify and implement changes that increase efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
  • Participate in bid review meetings and handover meetings with the Project Management team after award.
Requirements
  • Minimum five (5) years of Engineering experience in the Mechanical Consultant or Construction industry, focused on mechanical building systems (i.e., HVAC, Hydronic, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Fire Protection).
  • Experience in ICI Design Build / P3 project delivery is strongly preferred, with a focus on healthcare, government, office, or hospitality sectors.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of relevant building codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, OBC, NBC, NFPA, CSA).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Accubid Pro and/or Enterprise is a definite asset.
  • Ability to travel and attend meetings at Architects and Consultants.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and NMS specifications is an asset.
  • Professional Engineer, Licensed in the Province of Ontario or Ingénieur, Licensed in the Province of Québec, is considered an asset.
