Job Title: Crisis Counselor
Job Type: Sub-contract
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Crisis Counselor to join our team at Donna Cona. As a Crisis Counselor, you will be responsible for providing emotional support and guidance to individuals in crisis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis counseling services to individuals in need, utilizing active listening and empathetic communication skills.
- Assess and respond to crisis situations, prioritizing the safety and well-being of clients.
- Develop and implement crisis intervention plans, working collaboratively with clients and other stakeholders.
- Provide education and support to clients on coping strategies and resources for managing crisis situations.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and crisis interventions.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in crisis counseling or a related field.
- Experience working with Indigenous Issues and populations.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle stressful situations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate and write in English (French is an asset).
- Ability to communicate in Cree, Inuktitut, Ojibway, or other Indigenous languages (asset).
- Security clearance at the level of RELIABILITY (eligible).
