Position Overview
We are currently seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist to join our team at Sun Pointe. This role is integral in delivering therapeutic services to our residents in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Long-Term Care settings.
Your Commitment
As an Occupational Therapist, you will demonstrate a profound commitment to the well-being of our residents. Your patience and understanding will foster a trusting relationship with those you support. You will effectively communicate complex concepts in an accessible manner, ensuring clarity and understanding among residents and staff alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and oversight to the Rehabilitation Assistant.
- Engage in the Musculo Skeletal Injury Prevention Program by analyzing incident reports and contributing to risk management strategies.
- Conduct in-service training sessions to promote injury prevention techniques among staff and residents.
- Model safe transfer and lifting practices while assisting team members.
- Support team members returning to work after injuries, as needed.
- Advocate for ergonomic considerations in the design of work and living spaces.
- Continuously assess and monitor the performance of the Rehabilitation Assistant.
- Evaluate resident mobility needs and recommend appropriate equipment.
- Deliver therapeutic programs tailored to resident needs.
- Encourage residents and staff to utilize professional services and community resources.
- Empower residents to make informed choices regarding their care and risk management.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy with 3-5 years of experience in senior care, or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience. You should have a proven track record of innovative approaches to gerontological rehabilitation and strength maintenance, along with current registration with a governing body in British Columbia.
