Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical-Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Ultra. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting our high-tech production environment and facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assemble, install, maintain, repair, and overhaul all types of equipment, machinery, and systems used in production processes.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop, implement, and follow preventive maintenance schedules and procedures as required. Monitor the function of machinery, equipment, and electro-mechanical devices while in use and highlight potential problems.
  • Diagnostic and Repair: Carry out maintenance and preventative maintenance in accordance with procedures and diagnose and repair faults, suggesting improvements to existing equipment and maintenance procedures and practices.
  • Programming and Testing: Maintain and program Allen-Bradley PLCs, and PLC software-controlled equipment, machinery, variable speed drives, and electro-mechanical devices. Test electrical equipment for proper function, continuity, and isolation from ground and correct faults as necessary.
  • Cabling and Installation: Run cabling for production equipment and production test equipment on the production floor.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Alert supervision regarding repairs and maintenance required on operating equipment/machinery/electro-mechanical devices to ensure safe working conditions. Work as directed with team members and/or with other departments to ensure efficient operation of production equipment, machinery, and/or electro-mechanical devices.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain records, including software and programs for production equipment, machinery, and mechanical devices.
  • Specialized Tasks: Repair, rework, and calibrate pneumatic assemblies and systems to meet operational specifications and tolerances. Operate, test, and maintain semi-automated, servo-mechanical, or electromechanical equipment. Follow layouts and install traditional electrical circuitry for offices, lighting, pumps, motors, etc.
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Work with Engineering in the programming of existing and developmental PLC and operating system-based production equipment, machinery, and electro-mechanical devices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use knowledge and experience to propose design changes and/or modifications to machines and equipment to improve performance and reliability.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to occasional emergency call-ins.
  • Facilities Support: Change filters on large filtration systems and any process equipment needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Completed Grade 12, from a recognized community college with a diploma in Electromechanical technician or trade certification (Journeyperson Millwright).
  • Experience: Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and reading blueprints.
  • Security Clearance: The successful person must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian NATO government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to be able to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects.
Desirable Skills
  • Computer Literacy: A good level of computer literacy.
  • 3rd Party Custom Tooling Shops: Experience working with 3rd Party custom tooling shops.
  • AGV Experience: AGV experience.
  • PLC Knowledge: Good understanding of PLCs.
  • WHMIS Training: WHMIS trained.
  • Communication and Organization: Good communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
