Job Summary

We are seeking an Environmental Technician to join our team in Fort St. John, BC. As an Environmental Technician, you will be responsible for activities such as erosion and sediment control planning, implementation, and maintenance, developing and implementing construction environmental plans, conducting inspections for environmental compliance to any relevant permits, conducting soil and water sampling, and conducting wildlife habitat assessments and sweeps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting wildlife habitat assessments and sweeps
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree or Technical Diploma in a related discipline
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience is preferred, but more or less experience will also be considered for this role
  • Understanding of Federal and Provincial environmental regulations and standards and their application
  • Previous experience on heavy construction and earthworks projects is preferred
  • Future eligibility as a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) is an asset
  • A love for the outdoors – this position involves fieldwork and potential camp-based rotations
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
  • Confidence in identifying and communicating issues within a construction environment to support compliant construction
  • A valid clean Class 5 driver's license is required for this position
