About the Role

Port Hawkesbury Paper is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support to the maintenance department during day-to-day operations, major maintenance projects, and shutdowns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise to the maintenance department to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
  • Lead and participate in maintenance projects, including equipment overhauls and shutdowns, to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to coordinate project implementation and ensure seamless execution.
  • Develop and implement precision maintenance techniques to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate with consulting engineers, vendors, and contractors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and best practices within the maintenance department.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (PEng preferred).
  • At least three years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or related industrial environment.
  • Previous maintenance experience, particularly in a highly technical and production-oriented workplace, is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing and Condition Monitoring Techniques is highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage through teamwork and influence, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines and frequent changes in priorities.
