The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Relief Support Assistant to join our team. As a Relief Support Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing support to students with special needs or students who require additional assistance.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with implementing specialized and modified learning activities to provide a positive learning experience for students with special needs or students who require additional support.
- Work with special needs/additional needs students individually or in small groups to provide academic assistance in core areas such as reading and math.
- Ensure that special needs/additional needs students are provided with positive learning environments and have opportunities to learn effective listening and communications skills and good work habits.
- Assist with the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to promote a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence in students.
- Grade 12 combined with related training in working with special needs students and experience in an educational environment.
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other educational staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- A competitive salary range of $34.20 per hour to $40.85 per hour (approximately $66,690 - $79,657) plus a pro-rated annual Northern Allowance.
