Position Overview

Personal Support Worker (Permanent Evening Shift - 14:00 to 22:00)

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) plays a crucial role in delivering personal care to assist patients with their daily activities and hygiene needs while addressing their physical, social, and emotional requirements. This role aligns with our resident-centered approach, adhering to relevant government standards and the organization's mission. The PSW provides compassionate end-of-life care to patients and their families, fostering a safe and homely environment. Given the unique nature of hospice care, the PSW is encouraged to engage with patients beyond care tasks, facilitating opportunities for patients and their families to share their stories and experiences.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Personal Support Worker program in Ontario or equivalent
  • Experience in a palliative care environment is an asset
  • Current CPR certification (obtained within the last year)
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities
  • Proficiency in computer skills
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Fluency in Chinese and other languages is advantageous
  • Satisfactory performance in previous roles

Working Conditions:

  • Significant standing, walking, lifting, and bending
  • Regular contact with residents, exposing the PSW to all aspects of resident care
  • Availability for permanent evening shifts (14:00 to 22:00), including weekends and short shifts. Flexibility to work alternate shifts as needed for operational requirements.
