Position Overview: Lyft is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Accounting Manager to become a vital part of our Controllership team. This position involves daily controllership responsibilities and participation in project-based initiatives aimed at optimizing our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will utilize their existing expertise while rapidly acquiring new skills to contribute effectively in a dynamic, publicly traded company environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the revenue cycle, including oversight of collections, deferred revenues, and adherence to revenue recognition standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including EDC and joint ventures; oversee related quarterly entries and processes.
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Coordinate and execute accounting processes in alignment with the monthly closing schedule.
- Collaborate with Finance and other departments to gather information and provide guidance on accounting matters, including optimizing transactions for new business initiatives.
- Support the reporting process by collecting financial data for SEC disclosures and external audit assistance.
- Design and implement scalable accounting processes to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with SOX regulations.
- Engage actively in system implementations and integration efforts.
- Prepare governmental reports and assist with budgeting and forecasting as necessary.
- Conduct special projects and ad-hoc tasks within the Accounting/Finance domain.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA designation is preferred.
- 5-6 years of accounting experience, including tenure at a Big 4 firm and in manufacturing sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles.
- Self-motivated, independent worker with exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficient in accounting research, problem-solving, and managing multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual in English and French; capable of effective communication in English with colleagues outside of Quebec.
